On January 3, 2018, OPC Consumer Services staff presented to the Mayor’s Office on African Affairs (MOAA) – Commission on African Affairs monthly meeting held at the Frank D. Reeves Center, 2000 14th Street, N.W., Washington, DC 20009 (Ward 1).
OPC staff, educated the commissioners and their constituents who use natural gas, electricity and telephone services about our mission, utility updates and reminder of the availability of the “No fee” Language Line Interpretation services to improve communications around utility complaints for consumers who speak English as a second language. Staff communicated that these services are available on a walk-in basis, and that no appointment is necessary. Other concerns raised by constituents were: OPC’s projection of the timing and potential outcome of the DC Public Service Commission’s ruling in the WGL/Altagas merger and the need for more TPS guides for the African residents they represent.
