On February 13, 2018 – OPC Consumer Services staff attended the “Low Vision Support Group” monthly meeting hosted by The National Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington at the Washington National Eye Center, 110 Irving Street, N.W., Washington, DC 20010 (Ward 2).
The low Vision support group assist visually impaired residents in developing skills to to better handle daily challenges. Individuals are coached by interns and/or attending physicians in specific areas of vision impairment prevention.
Many persons with visual or medical impairments also struggle to maintain utility services. OPC staff, shared information regarding our availability to listen to and intake their utility issues, and to offer the accommodation of large print materials concerning gas, electricity, and telephone services upon request.
